Malcolm X was
one of the most powerful and charismatic African-American leaders of
the country. He converted to Nation of Islam and became a follower of
its leader Elijah Muhammad. As a Nation of Islam leader, his message was
essentially anti-white until he undertook and performed the Hajj
(pilgrimage) to Mecca. Impressed by his discovery of true Islam in the
Muslim lands he visited, he left Nation of Islam and became an orthodox
Muslim, leaving his prior racial standing.

Leopold Weiss
(1900-1992), who became famous in the Muslim world as Muhammad Asad,
was born in a Jewish family in what is now part of Germany. He worked in
the Middle East as correspondent of prestigious German and Swiss
newspapers. He traveled widely throughout the world and authored many
books on Islam including a translation of the Qur'an. He accepted Islam
in 1926.

Dr. Jeffrey Lang
(b. 1954) was born as a Catholic but became an atheist during his high
school years despite the efforts of his Catholic teacher and parents to
convince him of the existence of God. He remained an atheist for the
next 10 years throughout his undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral
studies. He accepted Islam in early 1980's and authored two books:

Dr. Murad Wilfried Hofmann
(b. 1931) was born as a Catholic in Germany in 1931. He graduated from
Union College in New York and completed his legal studies at Munich
University where he received a doctorate in jurisprudence in 1957. He
became a research assistant for the reform of federal civil procedure,
and in 1960 received an LL. M. degree from Harvard Law School. He was
Director of Information for NATO in Brussels from 1983 to 1987. He was
posted as German ambassador to Algeria in 1987 and then to Morocco in
1990 where he served for four years. He accepted Islam in 1980 and

Dr. T. J. Winter,
known now as Abdal-Hakim Murad, is a British convert to Islam. He
received his masters degree from the Cambridge University at England and
later studied at Al Azhar. He was a research fellow at the Oxford
University. Currently, he is a lecturer of Theology at Cambridge
University. Among his works is the translation of al Bayhaqi's
"Seventy-Seven Branches of Faith" into English. He has also authored
many articles about Islam and Muslims.

Dialogue between Christianity and Islam" (2001), and "Abraham: The
Friend of God" (2002). He formally accepted Islam in 1993.

(1867-19xx) was a former Catholic bishop and an expert in biblical
documents and languages. He published many scholarly articles about
early Christianity before accepting Islam in 1904. He is the author of
"Muhammad in the Bible", a scholarly book of linguistic analysis about
reference to Prophet Muhammad (p) in the Old Testament. After accepting

1979. He was probably the first international singer to sing Islamic

and former three-time World Heavyweight Champion and winner of an
Olympic Light-heavyweight gold medal. Ali changed his name after joining

Maqsood. At age 8, she became a deeply committed Christian. She studied
Theology at the Hull University, and taught religion as Head of
Religious Studies for 32 years at various UK schools. It was primarily
her own biblical studies and research into early Christianity which led

a forty-two-year-old Latino, is a Los Angeles-based comic and lecturer.
He was born in Texas where he attended his first Jehovah's Witness
meeting at age six. He gave his first Bible sermon at eight, tended his
own congregation at twenty, and was headed for a position of leadership
among the 904,000 Jehovah's Witnesses in the United States. But he
traded his Bible for a Qur'an after having braved a visit to a local
